The Planet Group is seeking an experienced Specifications Writer to join our Architecture, Engineering, and Design team. This role focuses on developing architectural specifications, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring staff to uphold quality standards across complex building projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field is required.
• Licensed Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in specification writing in A/E/C environments.
• Strong knowledge of construction documents, materials, building systems, and industry standards.
• Experience coordinating specifications across multidisciplinary project teams; excellent communication and collaboration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and industry-standard specification/document management platforms.
• CCS or CDT certifications preferred; LEED a plus; CSI involvement is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and coordinate technical specifications for architectural, engineering, and interior design projects.
• Act as the organization's specification subject matter expert for project teams.
• Mentor architects and designers in specification development and best practices.
• Review project specifications and drawings for accuracy and coordination.
• Lead QA/QC reviews throughout project lifecycles.
• Maintain and improve master specification libraries, standards, and workflows.
• Stay current on emerging products, technologies, and industry best practices.
• Support proposal development and project delivery as needed.
• Lead continuous improvement of specification standards and templates.
