Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a natural science field or equivalent.
• Laboratory experience preferred.
• Shipping and receiving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of laboratory systems, specimen accessioning procedures, freezer maintenance, and inventory management.
• Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Other combinations of education, training and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Accession, identify, sort, label, store, and ship clinical specimens with full traceability.
• Investigate routine accessioning issues and escalate complex matters to senior staff.
• Notify customers of specimen receipt and respond to routine inquiries clearly.
• Maintain freezers and inventory and notify staff of shortages.
• Guide entry-level staff on procedures and assist onboarding.
• Support after-hours alarms and critical functions when required.
• Communicate with cross-functional stakeholders and represent Specimen Management on projects.
• Follow procedures, regulatory guidelines, safety, quality, and 6S practices.
