CHRISTUS Children's seeks a Specialty Coder to focus ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding for inpatient and outpatient cases, ensuring high-quality documentation review and accurate abstracting into CHRISTUS Health EMR systems.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience, strong communication skills, and adherence to AHIMA guidelines. Remote work potential and collaboration with HIM/CDIS teams are part of the duties.

Competenze

• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding guidelines.
• Ability to maintain a high-quality coding accuracy rate (95% or better).

Mansioni

• Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Guidelines.
• Abstracts required information from source documentation into CHRISTUS Health EMR systems.
• Validates admit orders and discharge dispositions.
• Works from assigned coding queue, completing and re-assigning accounts.
• Meets or exceeds an accuracy rate of 95%.
• Abides by AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding.
• Queries providers for missing or unclear documentation with HIM and Clinical Documentation Improvement specialists.
• Works independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
• Participates in internal and external audit discussions.
• All other work duties as assigned by the Manager.
