Job summary

CSS is seeking a Senior Specialist - Quotations (Switchgear Projects) to develop and manage proposals, bids, and quotations across large electrical projects. You will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and product teams to ensure complete, accurate, and timely responses, including complex inquiries.

Responsibilities include identifying opportunities, managing full quotation processes, negotiating with suppliers and customers, and coordinating documentation for final submissions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of quotes, estimating, bidding, or sales support in electrical construction.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution products, switchgear, lighting, and datacom.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze project specs, drawings, and blueprints.
• Experience developing and managing complete bid packages from review to submission.
• Understanding pricing strategies, cost analysis, and quote development.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for bids and compile material requirements for electrical projects.
• Manage full quotation process for large construction bids, including switchgear quotations.
• Collaborate with consultants, engineers, and customer reps for bidding requirements.
• Review supplier specs, BOMs, negotiate pricing, and propose alternatives.
• Lead supplier and customer negotiations to support competitive quotations.
• Prepare material take-offs and cost estimates for products like datacom, switchgear, lighting.
• Coordinate documentation collection for final quotation submissions.
• Work with customers to resolve questions or changes during bidding.
• Follow up on open quotations to improve conversion opportunities.
• Partner with Account Representatives and Inside Sales to ensure accuracy of quotes and orders.
• Identify new sales opportunities within existing accounts and share with sales team.

As a Senior Specialist - Quotations (Switchgear Projects), develops proposals, bids, quotations, or other documents describing organizational products and services in response to requests from prospective clients. This position collaborates with members of the Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, or product teams to ensure content is complete, accurate, and timely. The Senior Specialist may be responsible for developing responses to the most complex or high-value inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Identify and qualify project opportunities for bid and compile material requirements, including supplies, lighting, switchgear, datacom products, and other electrical distribution equipment.


• Manage the full quotation process for large and complex construction projects, including preparing and supporting switchgear quotations, collaborating across multiple internal teams, and delivering solutions for commercial, industrial, and solar projects across various customer segments and territories.


• Work with consultants, engineers, and customer representatives to obtain approvals and gather information required for the bidding process.


• Communicate with suppliers to review material specifications, validate bills of materials, negotiate pricing, and identify alternatives for special or custom order requests.


• Lead negotiations with suppliers and customers to support competitive and profitable quotation development.


• Prepare material take offs and cost estimates for products such as datacom, switchgear, lighting, and electrical apparatus to support customer quotations.


• Coordinate the collection of required documentation and information for final quotation submissions.


• Collaborate with customers to resolve questions, issues, or changes that arise during the bidding process.


• Follow up on open quotations with customers and sales teams to determine project status and improve conversion opportunities.


• Partner with Account Representatives, Account Executives, and Inside Sales teams to ensure quotations and resulting orders are accurate and complete.


• Identify potential sales opportunities within existing customer accounts and communicate opportunities to the sales team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required


• Bachelor's Degree preferred


• Minimum of 5 years of related quotations, estimating, bidding, or sales support experience in Electrical construction industry


• Experience developing and managing complete bid packages from initial review through submission.


• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution products, lighting, switchgear, datacom products, and related product lines.


• Understanding of pricing strategies, cost analysis, and quotation development.


• Experience negotiating and collaborating with customers, suppliers, manufacturers, and vendor representatives.


• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze project specifications, drawings, and blueprints.


• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quotation management systems.


• Experience supporting large scale commercial, industrial, or construction project bids.


• Knowledge of electrical distribution industry standards and practices.


• Ability to manage multiple complex quotations and deadlines simultaneously.


• Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
