Job summary

CSA Group invites applications for a Senior Inspector position focused on NYC Special Inspections. You will conduct field inspections for masonry, concrete, rebar, and bolting, ensuring compliance with NYC Building Code and project specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of related work experience performing special inspections onsite (Masonry, Concrete, Rebar, Bolting and Welding).
• ACI, ICC, CWI certifications required; PE preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic reporting systems such as Procore or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code and Special Inspection requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specs, RFIs, and project documents.
• Experience performing special inspections in NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) framework.
• ICC Special Inspector certifications for relevant disciplines preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform special inspections and field observations in accordance with NYC Building Code requirements and project specs.
• Verify construction activities comply with approved plans and regulatory requirements.
• Inspect structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, fireproofing, mechanical systems, and energy code compliance.
• Document inspection activities and deficiencies in clear, accurate reports.
• Identify non-conforming work and verify corrective actions through follow-up inspections.
• Review drawings, specs, RFIs, submittals, and related documents before and during inspections.
• Coordinate with contractors, project managers, design professionals, testing labs, and client representatives.
• Maintain complete inspection records per QMS and project requirements.
• Adhere to safety policies, PPE usage, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Support scheduling by responding to inspection requests across multiple sites.
