Mechanics Bank is seeking a Sr. Special Assets Officer to manage problem commercial loans and collaborate with the Retail Special Assets group on consumer loans. The role emphasizes resolving defaults, potential REO, and strategic outcomes for distressed portfolios.

On-site at Irvine, Roseville, or Walnut Creek, you will oversee modifications, repayment plans, and legal actions as needed. The ideal candidate has 7 years in special assets management (C&I and CRE), solid regulatory knowledge, and

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in special assets management including both C&I and CRE loan involvement in litigation and bankruptcy.
• Knowledge of bankruptcy and litigation processes along with strong negotiating skills are essential.
• Ability to work effectively with senior management and other internal/external parties.
• Understanding of risk grading and accounting concepts is required.
• Strong knowledge of current regulatory requirements for loan restructuring and foreclosure, particularly in California and Washington.
• Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative work style is essential.
• Excellent communication skills -- written and oral;
• Strong understanding of credit analysis, administration, policy and procedures.

Responsabilités

• Assess issues with problem loans and independently develop strategies to resolve the loans.
• Identify cost-effective resolutions for loans and REO properties.
• Underwrite loan modifications and prepare periodic reports for loans in the portfolio.
• Develop and implement repayment plans for problem loans.
• Negotiate loan modification terms with clients.
• Recommend risk rating changes and charge offs.
• Apply deductive thinking to support management decisions and action plans to minimize losses.
• Serve as primary contact with related third parties in monitoring, servicing, restructuring, collecting, liquidating, and pursuing legal action of the portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and bank policies.
