Job summary

FIREFLY AEROSPACE seeks a Spacecraft Test Technician for our Briggs, TX facility. This hands-on role focuses on building propulsion test capabilities, performing hardware prep, test setup, and system maintenance for Spectre and related liquid propulsion systems.

You will work with engineers to execute tests, document results, and ensure safety and quality standards while contributing to lunar mission readiness.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in aerospace, aircraft, R&D, or related fields.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and teamwork.
• Capability to lift 50 lbs for limited durations.
• Willingness to work flexible hours for spacecraft engine testing.
• Familiarity with pressurized system safety.

Responsibilities

• Support integration, instrumentation, and execution of hotfire tests for Spectre propulsion engine and related liquid propulsion systems.
• Perform hands-on setup, checkout, and operation of ground support equipment (propellant transfer, pressurization, safety systems).
• Assist engineers during propellant loading, engine conditioning, ignition sequences, and safing per procedures.
• Follow and feedback on work instructions for complex mechanical systems.
• Clean and passivate hardware using solvents, mechanical, ultrasonic, and precision cleaning methods.
• Perform deburring, edge breaking, and polishing on aerospace fittings and components.
• Maintain logs and maintenance records for equipment.
• Support safety reviews and readiness activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement of test procedures and facility operations.
