Job summary

KBR, Inc. in El Segundo, CA is seeking a highly experienced spacecraft or spacecraft subsystem SME to join our team. The role focuses on SE&I for USSF Space Systems Command, with responsibilities spanning design, integration, and testing of space vehicles and ground segments.

Qualified candidates will have a technical BS, extensive space systems experience, and an active Secret clearance (TS/SCI a plus). On-site work is required in Southern California with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required; TS/SCI a plus.
• BS in engineering, mathematics, physics, software or CS.
• 15 years’ experience with spacecraft bus or subsystems.
• DOD or IC space experience preferred.
• On-site at LAAFB; ~10% travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the ESS Program Office in the prime contractor delivery of the space vehicle in the area of Mechanical, Electrical or Test.
• Lead the trades for unit and subsystem designs, integration and testing into the spacecraft bus, payload and space vehicle.
• Ensure the technical design and interfaces within the space vehicle, along with the ground and terminal segments.
• Support all component and unit test programs, including space qualification testing ensuring survivability in space environments; develop test documentation (plans/reports).
• Support the space vehicle test program, ensuring survivability in space environments; develop test documentation.
