Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer I to own propulsion development, lead systems engineering, and guide end-to-end projects for civil, commercial, and defense programs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 5+ years in propulsion, and US citizenship. Proficiency in modelling tools (Amesim, Simulink, etc.) and experience with end-to-end product cycles are essential. Base salary and benefits are detailed below.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or other technical discipline)
• 5+ years of propulsion system development experience
• US citizenship is required due to program requirements
• Expertise in propulsion system modelling, and validation using test data software such as Amesim, EcosimPro, Simulink, or Simscape
• Experience with end-to-end development, Systems Engineering V, and risk-based decision making
• Experience with propulsion systems using different storable propellants

Responsibilities

• Own development of new or existing propulsion products or systems as technical lead
• Perform performance calculations, system modelling, analysis and design
• Gather, define and manage system requirements
• Lead systems engineering activities within the team
• Plan tests, set up instrumentation, run tests and analyze data
• Communicate with stakeholders internal and external
• Make technically sound risk-based decisions
• Support project management, scheduling and delivery
• Mentor team members and develop talent
• Contribute to Rocket Lab engineering process documentation
