Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer II to own propulsion system development and guide end-to-end programs for civil, commercial, and defense customers.

We require a Bachelor's degree in engineering and 8+ years in propulsion; US citizenship is required. You will model propulsion systems, lead tests, and mentor teammates while working on cutting-edge space missions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or other technical discipline).
  • 8+ years of experience in propulsion system development or other high-performance field.
  • US citizenship is required, due to program requirements.
  • Expertise in propulsion system modelling, static and transient analysis, and model validation using tools such as Amesim, EcosimPro, Simulink, or Simscape.

Responsibilities

  • Own development of new or existing propulsion products or systems, acting as technical lead for end-to-end development.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed performance calculations, systems modelling, analysis, and designs.
  • Gather, define, and manage requirements for propulsion projects.
  • Lead systems engineering activities within the team and mentor others.
  • Plan tests, set up instrumentation, execute experiments, and analyze data.
  • Communicate with project stakeholders internal and external to the team.
  • Make risk-based, technically sound decisions to select best solutions.
