Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer I for our Space Systems propulsion team in Long Beach, CA. You will own system-level and component-level propulsion and fluidic development for civil, commercial, and defense programs.

Responsibilities include end-to-end design, modelling, testing, and risk-based decision making, plus mentorship and documentation to drive engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or other technical discipline).
• 5+ years of propulsion system development or related high-performance field.
• US citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• Experience with end-to-end development processes and systems engineering practices.
• Experience with propulsion systems using different propellants (storable propellants).

Responsibilities

• Own development of new or existing propulsion products and guide end-to-end development.
• Perform conceptual and detailed performance calculations, modelling, and designs.
• Gather and manage requirements and lead systems engineering activities.
• Plan tests, instrumentation, data collection, and analysis.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and manage risks.
