Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer II to advance high-performance satellite deployment systems and bus configurations for critical missions.

You will own component designs from concept to production, perform hand-calcs and FEA, lead design reviews, and collaborate with Space Systems to deliver reliable space hardware for interplanetary and national-security programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering; or other engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD modeling and drawing.

Responsibilities

• Support the Space Systems organization with deliverables for leadership, board, and investors.
• Develop high-performance satellite systems, mechanisms, and satellite bus configurations.
• Define mechanisms on a modern satellite system/bus and own components from concept to production.
• Perform hand-calcs and FEA to drive design decisions.
• Lead key component design, manufacturing, and test reviews.
• Create and maintain product definitions through CAD and production drawings.
