Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer II to develop high-performance satellite deployment systems, mechanisms, and satellite bus configurations. You will support Space Systems with deliverables for leadership and investors.

Ideal candidates have CAD experience, 8+ years in mechanical engineering, and US citizenship; a security clearance or advance degrees are a plus. Base pay range and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline.
• 8+ years mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD modeling and drawing.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Support Business Development with proposals and mission concepts.
• Develop high performance satellite systems, mechanisms, and bus configurations.
• Develop concepts for high-value science and interplanetary missions.
• Define mechanisms on a modern satellite system/bus.
• Own component designs from conceptual design through production, test, and operation.
• Perform hand-calcs and FEA to drive design decisions.
• Lead key component design, manufacturing, and test reviews.
• Create and maintain product definition through CAD, production drawings, and test/operations procedures.
• Manage development schedules, vendors, budgets, and other deliverables.
