Job summary

Trident Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to develop and deliver high-performance spacecraft electronics assemblies. You will design, analyze, and document mechanical solutions, working closely with program managers and project engineers to meet schedule and budget.

The role demands expert depth in mechanical design, GD&T, and multidisciplinary collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and firmware domains. Travel or off-site work may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred).
• 9+ years related experience with Bachelor's or 7+ with Master's.
• Experience with aerospace/space hardware development.
• Experience with PDM systems and configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of spacecraft electronics assemblies using high-fidelity CAD tools like SolidWorks or similar.
• Draft high quality mechanical drawings for fabrication with GD&T.
• Perform and review structural and thermal analysis using Ansys Workbench or similar.
• Familiarity with space environmental testing (vibration, TVAC, shock) for flight readiness.
• Manage project schedules and technical risk; coordinate with electrical, software, and systems engineers.
• Mentor teammates and perform detailed reviews of mechanical team products.
• Ability to travel or work off-site as needed.
