Job summary

Trident Systems Inc. Space Electronic Systems division seeks an accomplished Director of Mechanical Engineering to build, lead, and grow the mechanical engineering discipline in support of DoD, IC, and Civil space programs.

This dual-track role combines a functional management focus with technical authority as Cognizant Mechanical Engineer. You will define and mature processes, lead staffing and career development, oversee designs with CAD tools like SolidWorks, review structural/thermal

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 15+ years of related experience leading mechanical engineering teams.
• Experience as design authority or technical signature for aerospace/space hardware.
• Experience defining or maturing engineering processes in aerospace/defense environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Cognizant Mechanical Engineer (CME) design authority and sign-off on mechanical designs and drawings.
• Lead mechanical design of spacecraft electronics assemblies using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
• Review structural and thermal analyses to validate design integrity under flight loads and temperatures.
• Oversee environmental testing (vibration, TVAC, shock) for flight readiness.
• Resolve cross-disciplinary engineering issues across mechanical, electrical, software disciplines.
• Represent mechanical engineering in customer, program, and executive reviews.
