Job summary

K2 Space is seeking a Senior Navigation & Guidance engineer to shape the spacecraft GNC architecture. You will run trade studies, design control systems from time-domain filters to frequency-domain analyses, and support autonomous orbit raises.

You will contribute to flight readiness via V&V of the GNC stack and updates to 6-DOF simulations. In the first year you’ll support launch and on-orbit operations for the Mega bus, while upgrading the GNC stack.

Qualifications

• Experience with GNC actuator or sensor sizing, selection, and system design.
• Experience with implementing attitude control and/or estimation algorithms on spacecraft.
• Experience with verification and validation of GNC flight software in an integrated environment, leveraging 6-DOF simulation and HITL testing.
• Experience with programming in Python, Julia, C/C++, or Matlab for algorithm development, implementation, and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel high level vehicle architecture in collaboration with engineering leads.
• Create algorithms for precise pointing of very large structures in earth orbit and beyond.
• Develop slewing algorithms for large, flexible structures in orbit.
• Build and validate simulation and modeling tools for vehicle and GNC trade studies (designs, controls, 6-DOF).
• Contribute to growing the GNC organization by recruiting, hiring and mentoring engineers.
