Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Principal Spacecraft Design Engineer to own end-to-end spacecraft design with autonomy and senior leadership. You will direct a multidisciplinary team, perform hands-on CREO modeling, and drive trades and verification campaigns to deliver robust hardware.

The role requires expert systems thinking and deep knowledge across mechanical domains, with a focus on pioneering space systems and manufacturable designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive design and analysis experience on mechanical systems.
• Expert in 3D modeling and detailed design with a hands-on mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead full spacecraft design and development including power, thermal, compute, and communications.
• Perform hands-on CREO modeling to produce 3D models and production drawings.
• Conduct trade studies to drive design decisions and verify requirements.
• Perform and guide structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses for design validation.
• Manage engineers while remaining deeply hands-on and hands-on.
• Develop and oversee hardware verification and test campaigns from component to system.
• Collaborate with analysis, manufacturing, and electrical teams for robust solutions.
• Present concepts, results, and recommendations to leadership.
