Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking an adept Controls Engineer to design motor control systems for spacecraft fluid subsystems. You will craft automated sequences, implement closed-loop control, and integrate sensors and actuators into flight-ready hardware.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in engineering field (Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace).
  • 3+ years in controls engineering, mechatronics, or hardware automation.
  • Experience with motor control and drive electronics.
  • Familiar with PID/kalman/filtering and control loops.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement motor control systems for actuated valves and pumps.
  • Develop automation sequences for propellant fill/drain and vent operations.
  • Create closed-loop control for propulsion and thermal subsystems.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, encoders, and instruments into hardware.
  • Develop embedded firmware and real-time control software.
  • Perform system modeling, simulation, and controller tuning.
  • Plan and execute hardware-in-the-loop tests and fault handling.
