Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Senior Modeling and Simulation Engineer for the Space Systems Integration Office within Space Systems Command. The role is based at Los Angeles AFB in El Segundo, CA, with TS (SCI eligible) clearance and up to 20% travel.

You will lead mission-specific M&S services and ensure rigorous V&V across government models. The position requires a BS in a STEM field, 15+ years of relevant experience, strong systems engineering skills, and proven technical program leadership.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in a STEM field.
• 15+ years of experience in engineering with emphasis in a relevant field.
• Experience designing, developing and upgrading complex technical systems in the SSIO mission space.
• Proficient in the systems engineering process and at least one implementation technology.
• Technical program leadership of a technical implementation team.
• Experience in basic team development and leadership training.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Matlab, AFSIM, STK and adaptability to new tools.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Support the SSIO office with development of mission-specific M&S services and analyses.
• Conduct requirements traceability from Mission Areas to implementations of MS&S simulations.
• Model and simulate SoS and FoS materiel solutions for modernization recommendations.
• Assess system vulnerability, survivability, and performance improvements.
• Evaluate utility trades and technology readiness for M&S artifacts.
• Establish V&V procedures for MS&A tools and upgrades.
• Perform V&V of models used by SSC/SSIO; maintain government models.
• Assist with enterprise requirements development and JCIDS documentation.
• Analyze technical derivatives of cross-cutting space requirements.
• Develop briefings, technical reports, and architectural roadmaps.
• Collaborate with SWAC, CSRO/S5R and PEO to prioritize M&S efforts.
