Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a mid-career Mechanical Integration Engineer to design, draft, and assemble for diverse R&D programs and small-volume production contracts. You will bridge product design and production, refining mechanical components and coordinating with manufacturing to enable first-time builds and efficient repeatable lots.

The role requires experience in SolidWorks, GD&T, space hardware design, and strong technical writing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 2+ years' relevant experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Understanding of GD&T, material properties, and manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC).
• Experience with space hardware design, integration, and test.
• Strong technical writing skills for engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with Lean, Kaizen and Root Cause Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design for Manufacturing (DFM): modify designs and 3D CAD models for mass production.
• Process Integration: arrange assembly lines to maximize throughput and reduce waste.
• Tooling & Equipment: design jigs, fixtures, and tooling for new launches.
• Quality Control: establish testing protocols and analyze tolerances using PFMEA.
• Troubleshooting & Optimization: root-cause analysis of equipment issues and bottlenecks.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: liaise between product designers, supply chain, and operators.
• Other duties as assigned
