Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our SpaceTech Division. You will develop interfaces, manage requirements, and lead system engineering documentation for space-based processing, controls, and electro-optical systems.

You will mentor engineers, drive process improvements, and coordinate across engineering teams to ensure design integrity and successful test readiness. A DoD clearance or eligibility is required, with AS9100D familiarity helping project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• 8–12 years of experience in a systems engineering role, aerospace preferred
• Experience with design, development, modeling, analysis, testing and delivery tools
• Experience with advanced system engineering tools and software (CAMEO, Reliance, Python, MATLAB, ANSYS)
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles including PM&P and Mission Assurance verification analyses
• Familiarity with AS9100D standards
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Interface Control Specifications for space-based systems
• Lead development of System Engineering documentation (SEMP, ICDs, SPRs, ITPs)
• Own requirements generation, analysis, decomposition and customer reviews
• Analyze user requirements, CONOPs, and high-level architectures toderive system specs
• Manage system requirements and lead design activities
• Develop system architecture and design documentation
• Communicate with program personnel, customers and executives
• Support lab and field acceptance testing
• Ensure technical integrity of Systems Engineering deliverables
• Mentor other Systems Engineers to increase team knowledge
• Drive division-wide process creation and upkeep
• Coordinate between engineering areas to support design and development
• Capture design traceability to requirements and test readiness
