Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Structural Mechanics Project Engineer to join the Structural Mechanics Integration Office. You will work across subdivisions to create integrated solutions for the nation’s aerospace programs, leveraging multi-disciplinary expertise and delivering impact across the portfolio.

Position located in El Segundo, CA with at least 4 days on-site and occasional travel; relocation and security clearance requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a structural mechanics related STEM field or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in multiple aerospace structural mechanics disciplines.
• Familiarity with space and/or launch vehicle contractors.
• Proven track record of delivering impactful outcomes on national security space programs.
• Willing to travel domestically ~10% as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Connect emerging issues and programs with subdivision capabilities and advocate for strategic technical priorities across boundaries.
• Lead ad-hoc cross-disciplinary teams to develop solutions addressing process, product, and data flow shortcomings.
• Maintain awareness of capabilities across functional departments and foster opportunities to apply those capabilities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers and contractors across program acquisitions.
• Maintain technical depth in structural mechanics focus area and implement capabilities where appropriate.
• Identify technical needs and root causes for anomalies during hardware development and operations.
• Contribute to maintenance of requirements and technical data for SSC-S-016.
