Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle seeks an experienced structural dynamics engineer to evaluate spacecraft and engine hardware, develop finite element models, and create analysis tools for loads and dynamic responses. You will work across business units to drive safe, repeatable spaceflight while leveraging software tools and HPC workflows.

The role emphasizes nonlinear transient dynamics, model reduction, and data interpretation to support innovative spaceflight systems and manufacturable designs.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in mechanical, aerospace, civil engineering or physics.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Explicit and implicit nonlinear transient dynamic analysis using LS-DYNA.
• Contact and interface modeling for separation and deployment events.
• Mesh convergence studies and hourglass control for explicit solutions.

Responsibilities

• Finite Element Model development and correlation to test data.
• Modeling, simulation, and verification of hardware in launch and flight regimes.
• Ground and flight test data measurement and interpretation.
• Manage large datasets and post-process data for engineering applications.
• FEM reduction using Component Modal Synthesis (Craig-Bampton).
• Develop loads for launch vehicles and ground systems.
• Create mathematical models and simulations for loads analysis.
• Interpret acceleration, shock, and vibration data from tests.
