Job summary

Qualis, LLC is seeking a full-time Principal Software Engineer to support Space Domain (SDA) and Missile Warning (MW) missions in Huntsville, AL. You will design and develop software interfacing with hardware across the full SDLC, delivering robust solutions for complex systems.

The role demands high technical mastery, the ability to work both independently and in teams, and guidance across multidisciplinary engineering efforts to meet cost, schedule, and performance constraints.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of related experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of related experience.
• Extensive experience architecting and developing integrated hardware/software systems and resolving complex interface, timing, and performance issues.
• Experience providing technical direction across engineering disciplines and evaluating software designs and verification results.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and development of software in conjunction with hardware interfaces across all SDLC phases.
• Serve as a senior technical authority guiding business or functional teams without formal management.
• Coordinate complex activities across software, hardware, systems, test, and other engineering disciplines.
• Guide radar and communication model integration and external API design, including interfaces and performance considerations.
• Develop software test procedures, documentation, and traceability to requirements.
