Job summary

Apex Space, Inc. in Playa Vista, CA is seeking a Senior Space Simulation Test Engineer to lead environmental testing including vibration, thermal cycling, TVAC, EMI/EMC, and pneumatic tests.

You will design, implement, and manage test protocols and equipment to simulate space environmental conditions for spacecraft and components. Responsibilities include developing test plans, acquiring and maintaining equipment, and delivering qualification and production test results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in environmental testing within the aerospace industry.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace testing standards and regulations (MIL-STD-461, GSFC-STD-7000, SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810).
• Experience operating and maintaining environmental testing equipment.
• Experience with instrumentation used during environmental testing (thermocouples, accelerometers, DAQ).
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and manage test plans, procedures, protocols, and requirements for various environmental tests (vibration, shock, thermal cycling, TVAC, EMI/EMC, pneumatic).
• Scope, purchase, set-up, and maintain environmental testing equipment (vibration shakers, thermal chambers).
• Perform development, production, and qualification environmental testing with functional checks and performance verification.
• Analyze test data, interpret results, and generate test reports.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on spacecraft and test equipment.
• Collaborate with production, design, and QA to resolve issues.
• Improve testing processes and methodologies for accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians.
