Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking an Environmental Test Engineer III to lead advanced testing of aerospace systems, including satellites and spacecraft. You will plan and execute shock, vibration, thermal, and TVAC campaigns, and guide less-experienced engineers while ensuring quality through V&V activities.

You will work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment that values meticulous testing, documentation, and cross-functional coordination with facilities and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5+ years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance is required.
• General expertise in one area of test engineering principles (dynamics, thermal, measurement, HSI, SW Test, Integration, etc.).
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and systems integration.
• Experience planning, conducting, and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.
• Ability to read/interpret schematics and use test procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute complex test plans, procedures, and reports to demonstrate compliance with system requirements.
• Plan, set up, and execute environmental test campaigns for satellites, spacecraft, and space hardware, including shock, vibration, thermal, and TVAC testing.
• Coordinate with facilities and test operations teams to configure shaker tables, shock fixtures, thermal chambers, and DAQ systems.
• Monitor test articles during testing to detect anomalies and support root-cause investigations.
• Document test data and correlate results with analytical predictions for engineering decisions.
