Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a bold and dynamic Production Test Engineering Manager to optimize production test processes across our programs, ensuring alignment with milestones and on-time deliveries.

You will lead 10+ engineers across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines, develop test strategies, manage budgets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet Axiom Space Quality Standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering as listed.
• 10+ years in engineering or a similar role.
• Experience in hiring and building a high performing team.
• Ability to manage project scope and schedule.
• Motivate and provide clear direction to direct reports.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and/or assembling ground support equipment.
• Experience with mechanical components and instrumentation for test systems.
• Experience with vibration, thermal, or vacuum testing.
• Preferred: LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, or other data acquisition software.
• Preferred: pressure system test stands and complex fluid systems.
• Preferred: troubleshooting real-time mechanical/electrical problems.
• Preferred: hazard gases in lab/test environments.
• Preferred: working with mechanical and electrical technicians.

Responsibilities

• Strategically manage the Production Test organization in fast-paced environment.
• Lead, mentor, train and develop 10+ engineers.
• Actively manage subsystem schedules, staffing needs, budgets, and deliverables.
• Team morale and culture management, including one-on-ones.
• Conflict resolution and removal of impediments.
• Establish OKRs for the Production Test team.
• Guide development of GSE functional test equipment and testing.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with test systems.
• Lead test planning, risk assessments, safety and test readiness reviews.
• Report to and support the Production Director.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
