Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced mechanical/electrical engineer to develop and verify electromechanical requirements for space environment solar array wings and release mechanisms. You will perform design concepts, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with mechanical, electrical, structural, and thermal requirements.

Responsibilities include conducting trade studies, creating power estimates and IV curves, reviewing drawings, and guiding procurement with vendors to align with program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field with typically 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in electromechanical system design for space environment solar arrays.
  • Ability to derive lower-level requirements from spacecraft bus requirements.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and verify mechanical and electrical requirements for solar arrays.
  • Perform component trade studies and recommend technical solutions.
  • Create power estimates, degradation analysis, and IV curves.
  • Design concepts for space environment solar array wings.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, structural, and thermal requirements.
  • Mentor engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Lead design reviews and participate in risk assessments.
  • Approve mechanical drawings, docs, and test fixtures.
  • Collaborate with procurement and vendors to source assemblies.
  • Provide technical leadership in solar array integration, testing, and validation.
  • Champion continuous improvement and best practices across product lines.
