Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking a seasoned electrical engineer to lead the Solar Array Regulator (SAR) design for spaceflight applications. You will own schematics, PCB layouts, and analysis reports, guiding hardware from concept through qualification and flight acceptance.

This role requires 7+ years in hardware development, experience with MIL-STD-1540 and radiation-hardened design, and a collaborative approach with systems, thermal, and mechanical teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/related field with 7+ years of hardware development.
  • Experience with solar array regulation topologies (S3R, MPPT, PPT, shunt) in spacecraft.
  • High-voltage power electronics design above 50V and protected bus architecture.
  • Hardware qualification campaigns per MIL-STD-1540/SMC-S-016 with test plans.
  • Radiation-tolerant design practices and TID analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SAR circuit design for high-voltage space power bus.
  • Characterize solar array performance across illumination, temperature, and eclipse scenarios.
  • Define thermal dissipation for shunt elements and validate heat rejection.
  • Maintain SAR design package, schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs in PLM.
  • Define and transition ATE for solar array testing.
  • Support vehicle integration and flight acceptance tests.
