Job summary

Lunar Outpost seeks a Lead Mission Director to plan, prepare, and execute LTV missions in a dynamic startup environment. You will lead a multi‑discipline team, manage risk in real time, and coordinate with NASA FOD and program offices to ensure crew and vehicle safety.

The role demands exceptional leadership, 15+ years in mission operations, and the ability to work nights and holidays during active missions. U.S. Person status is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• At least 15 years of spaceflight mission operations experience with technical leadership and preflight/real-time execution.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering and mission-operations teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and administrative skills are mandatory.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays during active mission operations.
• U.S. Person is required.

Responsibilities

• Make real-time mission execution decisions during LTV ops for Artemis missions.
• Lead a flight operations team and manage risk during preflight and real-time phases.
• Coordinate as the primary Mission Operations POC between systems engineering, AI&T, and program offices.
• Develop and evaluate mission objectives within programmatic guidelines.
• Develop and execute Flight Plans according to mission requirements.
• Enforce Flight Rules to ensure crew and vehicle safety.
• Lead Lunar Outpost mission plans with NASA FOD and LTV IPTs and stakeholders.
• Determine actions for contingencies to restore normal operations.
