Job summary

Orbit Fab seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to lead design, analysis and optimization of complex spaceflight mechanisms from concept to production. This hands-on role requires prototyping and open design exploration in a small, fast-moving team.

You'll collaborate with Systems Engineering and manage end-to-end program work, ensuring manufacturability, timely delivery, and tough problem solving in a hybrid Lafayette, CO environment. Portfolio submission encouraged.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5+ years in mechanism or robotics design, fabrication, and/or test.
• Proficiency in CAD and design documentation.
• Experience taking a product from concept to operation.
• Knowledge of space-rated materials and design trades.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and analysis of space mechanisms.
• Prototype, model, and generate manufacturing drawings.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineering for integration.
• Drive manufacturability and design-for-DX improvements.
• Manage end-to-end program support from qualification to delivery.
