Job summary

Orbit Fab is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer for the design, analysis, and optimization of spaceflight mechanisms. You will own end-to-end responsibility from conceptual design through production and operation, with hands-on hardware involvement and prototyping. A strong portfolio is encouraged.

The role requires on-site work in Lafayette, CO with a hybrid schedule (3-5 days per week). You will collaborate with Systems Engineering to ensure mechanisms integrate with mission objectives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanism or robotics design, fabrication, and/or test.
• Proficiency in CAD.
• Experience from concept to operation.

Responsibilities

• Own design and analysis of space mechanisms.
• Ideate and prototype solutions for design problems.
• Develop and maintain CAD models, documents, and drawings.
• Perform design verification and environment compliance checks.
• Coordinate with Systems Eng to integrate mechanisms with electrical and fluid subsystems.
• Iterate designs for manufacturability and product direction.
• Manage product lifecycle through qualification testing and timelines.
