Job summary

Innoflight seeks a Hardware Engineer III to own complex spacecraft hardware from concept to integration. You will lead analog, digital, and power electronics development, coordinating with software, firmware, mechanical, and PCB teams to deliver high-reliability, orbit-ready hardware.

You will guide design reviews, mentor engineers, and ensure designs meet radiation and EMI/EMC requirements while supporting manufacturing and test with automation and robust documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years designing and developing complex embedded and board-level hardware.
  • Strong background in high-speed digital and analog design including FPGAs and memory architectures.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB tools (Altium, OrCAD, HyperLynx).
  • Proficiency in signal and power integrity, impedance control, and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Familiarity with radiation testing and space-grade components.
  • Experience developing test automation scripts (Python, PowerShell) or reference designs (Linux, VHDL).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced hardware design: validate and debug analog, power, embedded systems.
  • Develop high-speed interfaces (Rocket I/O, Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, RS-422, LVDS).
  • Design power systems: linear and switching regulators for board needs.
  • Guide PCB layout: stack-up, impedance, signal integrity, EMI/EMC.
  • Perform advanced analyses: SPICE, signal/power integrity in space environments.
  • Collaborate across disciplines with software, firmware, mechanical and systems teams.
  • Document and review design specs, ICDs, test procedures, manuals.
  • Support manufacturing and test: troubleshooting, integration, test automation (Python, PowerShell).
  • Ensure compliance with radiation, EMI/EMC and space-grade reliability.
