Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead mission safety and reentry compliance. You will drive the Flight Safety Analysis and regulatory strategy for FAA Part 450, bridging engineering and regulatory teams to ensure sound reentry methodologies.

You will own vehicle FHA/FMEA, casualty modeling, and real-time safety limits, coordinating with cross-functional teams and regulators to secure licenses and approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or related field.
• 5+ years aerospace experience with mission assurance or flight safety.
• Experience with FAA Part 450 and casualty modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical regulatory strategy and safety cases for FAA launch/reentry.
• Maintain vehicle FHA and FMEA analyses.
• Manage casualty and debris risk models to meet safety thresholds.
• Define safety limits and mission rules for on-console operations.
• Deliver vehicle-level safety artifacts to regulators for licenses.
• Act as Flight Safety engineer during rehearsals and live recovery.
