Job summary

Varda Space Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as the primary architect for mission safety and reentry compliance.

You will lead the Flight Safety Analysis and regulatory strategy for FAA Part 450 and range safety licensing, bridging engineering and regulatory requirements. You will own FHA/FMEA analyses, casualty and debris risk models, and live on-console safety operations, ensuring regulatory acceptance and robust safety margins for flight products and reentry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, systems engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience with mission assurance or flight safety roles.
• Experience with FAA Part 450, expected casualty modeling, trajectory dispersion, or debris analysis.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with risk management methodologies and tools (FMEA, FHA, Fault Tree Analysis).

Responsibilities

• Own the technical regulatory strategy, means of compliance, and safety cases for FAA launch and reentry authorizations.
• Own vehicle-level FHA and FMEA analyses.
• Maintain casualty and debris risk models to ensure regulatory safety thresholds.
• Establish technical safety limits and mission rules for real-time on-console operations.
• Produce vehicle-level deliverables to regulatory bodies for reentry licenses.
• Act as Flight Safety responsible engineer during rehearsals and live recovery operations.
