Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Mission Assurance team as a flight safety analyst and reentry compliance specialist. You will develop Flight Safety Analysis and regulatory strategies for FAA Part 450 and Range Safety licensing, bridging complex engineering and regulatory requirements.

You will support design validation, live operations, and deliver safety cases while ensuring reentry methodologies are mathematically sound and compliant.

Qualifications

• Must have ownership and execution of a complex engineering project from cradle-to-grave.
• Excellent communication skills to influence cross-functional teams and regulators.
• Strong experience with risk management methodologies and tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform flight safety analyses for each mission, focusing on debris fields and failures.
• Lead regulatory strategy for FAA launch and reentry approvals.
• Create FHA and FMEA at vehicle level.
• Serve as Flight Safety responsible engineer during rehearsals and live operations.
• Define safety limits and mission rules for real-time operations.
• Deliver vehicle-level safety artifacts to regulatory bodies.
