Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Systems Engineer for Space EO/IR Payload efforts within our Optical Sensor System Group in Acton, MA. The Systems Engineer leads technical strategy and execution across all development phases from concept through on-orbit operations.

The role requires experience in EO/IR space sensors, system architecture, requirements development, and leading integration and test efforts, with the ability to communicate with customers and management.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience with EO/IR space sensors design, assembly, testing and operation.
• Broad multi-disciplinary breadth in Space Systems and Ground Test Domain.
• Experience leading EO/IR sensor assembly, integration, and test teams.

Responsibilities

• Apply EO/IR remote sensing knowledge to develop/refine space payload architectures.
• Lead design, integration and test activities for EO/IR payload systems.
• Develop system and subsystem requirements, perform analyses and trade studies.
• Review technical efforts and deliverables with program management.
• Provide guidance on program risks/opportunities.
• Resolve technical issues and drive corrective actions.
