Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Systems Engineer with a discipline focus in Electrical Engineering for Space EO/IR Payload efforts within our Optical Sensor System Group in Acton, MA. The engineer will drive the technical strategy and execution of space payload programs through all development stages.

The role requires experience with space-qualified design, radiation hardening, thermal/power constraints, and interfaces with imaging sensors from visible to long-wave IR.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelors, masters or PhD in engineering with progressive experience.
• Experience with EO/IR space sensors and system integration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine space payload architectures for weather, earth science or ISR missions.
• Design and test electronics for space environments with radiation, thermal and power constraints.
• Support concept development, system architecture and requirements development.
• Review technical efforts and deliverables with program management.
• Provide guidance on program risks and opportunities.
• Resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Interface with imaging sensors including CCDs/CMOS and detectors.
• Ensure EMI/EMC/ESD design and testing compliance for aerospace hardware.
• Contribute to subcontract management and electrical ICD controls.
