Cowboy Space Corp. in Seattle is seeking an embedded controls engineer to design and develop motor controls, automation sequences, and flight-ready control systems for propulsion and fluid management.

You'll work at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, delivering robust control solutions from concept through integration and operations, with broad impact on vehicle and ground systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in controls/mechatronics or hardware automation.
• Experience with motor control and feedback systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement motor control systems for valves and pumps.
• Develop automated sequences for fill/drain/vent/conditioning.
• Architect closed-loop control for propulsion and thermal subsystems.
• Select actuators, sensors, and instrumentation for control.
• Develop control electronics hardware or define requirements for partners.
• Develop embedded firmware and real-time control software.
• Model systems and validate with simulations and tuning.
• Plan hardware-in-the-loop and system tests for control performance.
• Develop fault detection and recovery logic for safe operations.
• Collaborate with fluid, propulsion, avionics, and software teams.
