Job summary

CTS Technology Solutions, Inc. in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Space Communications Payload Systems Engineer to join the Payload Systems Engineering team. The role involves designing next-generation satellite communications systems and participating in the full program life cycle.

Candidates must be able to obtain a US security clearance and be a US citizen. Relevant experience with RF, payload design, and MATLAB/Simulink is valued; the position offers work on national security programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering or related field; US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
• Experience with communications subsystems or payload design, analysis, development or verification.
• Experience with satellite or space-based payloads and RF/digital systems.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and C++.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop RF, digital, and/or optical satellite communications systems and payload architectures.
• Support trade studies and generate proposals.
• Define and verify system requirements and interfaces.
• Perform system-level CONOPS development, functional analysis, RF and Optical performance analysis and decomposition.
• Support system-level integration and validation.
• Develop analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms.
• Develop and verify system algorithms that meet functional and performance requirements.
• Oversee the design and build of satellite RF and digital payload units from internal teams and external suppliers that meet defined requirements and interfaces.
• Perform design reviews and requirements sell-off.
• Perform system test preparation, execution, troubleshooting, and verification.
