Job summary

CarMax seeks a Senior Analyst of Financial Controls and Compliance to maintain SOX compliance and support accounting-related compliance at the Richmond, VA home office. You will partner with business teams, auditors, and control owners to operate and improve controls and documentation.

You will manage scoping, materiality, risk assessment, and remediation tracking, while communicating complex concepts clearly to stakeholders and ensuring timely certifications and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
• CPA, CIA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Four or more years of general accounting experience required; public accounting preferred.
• Experience with US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley, PCAOB requirements and COSO framework.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Company’s suite of SOX controls and flowcharts within Workiva.
• Support scoping, materiality, and risk assessment related to ICFR.
• Work with internal and external auditors on SOX control testing.
• Evaluate root causes of deficiencies and track remediation plans.
• Advise on SOX impact of initiatives and process changes.
• Coordinate quarterly Section 302/906 certifications with senior management.
• Obtain SOC 1 reports and assess implications for internal controls.
