Job summary

ERM is seeking a Senior Consultant, Field Lead Archaeologist to steer field investigations and regulatory analysis across the Southwest, with emphasis in Arizona. The role combines fieldwork with office‑based deliverables in a project‑driven practice.

You will lead Class I–III archaeological projects, ensure NHPA Section 106 compliance, and produce standards‑driven reports while collaborating with planners, biologists, GIS specialists and clients. Travel up to 75% may be required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus 3+ years (4+ years preferred) of professional experience.
• Field Lead experience in the Southwest.
• Eligibility to be listed on BLM, ARPA and state permits.
• Strong knowledge of NHPA Section 106 regulations.
• Experience authoring agency‑reviewed technical reports.
• Ability to lead field efforts independently or with a team.
• Willingness to travel to field sites across the United States.
• Field season travel up to 75% and ability to hike long distances.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
• Not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological surveys, testing and data recovery.
• Prepare technical report sections for investigations and documents.
• Perform archival and desktop research to support analyses.
• Collaborate with SHPO, BLM and other agencies.
• Support environmental permitting and compliance processes.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams including planners and GIS specialists.
• Represent ERM in client, stakeholder and agency interactions.
• Contribute to business development in cultural heritage services.
