Job description

We are seeking an experienced and charismatic Solutions Engineer for a key customer-facing role. This position supports Sales by offering insights, feedback, and knowledge from the aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing community. It combines customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management. The Solutions Engineer will report to the Pre-Sales Engineering team, which is co-led by Sales and Operations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Engagement and Sales:
  • Partner with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention
  • Identify, organize, and execute major projects
  • Participate in onsite visits with customers when appropriate
  • Proactively address manufacturing challenges, including DFM
  • Stay informed about upcoming customer projects to ensure alignment with Xometry's capabilities
  • Gather customer insights to inform sales strategies
  • Pre-Sales Engineering:
    • Support knowledge gathering and quote preparation for pre-sales activities
    • Combine customer, partner, and system knowledge to meet customer needs and manage projects to delivery
    • Provide project management oversight on complex opportunities
    Qualifications:
    • 10+ years of experience in aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Experience using Xometry's services from a customer perspective; partner experience is a plus
    • Deep familiarity with organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Blue, Anduril, General Dynamics, Moog, SpaceX
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including drawings and GDT
    • Extensive experience in CNC machining; knowledge of composites, plastics, harnesses, and sheet metal fabrication is a bonus
    • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100d, ITAR, NIST, and other compliance standards
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including in remote/digital environments
    • Ability to travel 25-35% to customer and partner sites
    • Based in Mountain or Pacific time zones
    • Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce
    • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
