We are seeking an experienced and charismatic engineer for a key customer-facing Solutions Engineer role. This position supports Sales by providing insights, feedback, and sharing knowledge gained from the aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing community. The role combines customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management, reporting to the Pre-Sales Engineering team, which is jointly led by Sales and Operations.

Responsibilities
Customer Engagement and Sales
  • Partner with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention.
  • Identify, organize, and execute major projects.
  • Participate in onsite visits with customers alongside Account Executives when appropriate.
  • Proactively identify and resolve manufacturing challenges, including DFM.
  • Stay informed about upcoming customer projects to ensure alignment with Xometry's capabilities.
  • Gather customer insights and feedback to inform sales strategies.
Pre-Sales Engineering
  • Assist with knowledge gathering and compilation to generate accurate, competitive quotes.
  • Combine customer insights, partner knowledge, and system data to address customer needs and facilitate project delivery.
  • Provide project management oversight on complex opportunities.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Experience using Xometry's services from a customer perspective is preferred; partner experience is a bonus.
  • Deep familiarity with organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Blue, Anduril, General Dynamics, Moog, SpaceX, including their methods, materials, culture, and products.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including drawings and GDT.
  • Extensive experience in CNC machining; knowledge of composites, plastics, harnesses, and sheet metal fabrication is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100d, ITAR, NIST, and other compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, especially in remote and digital environments.
  • Ability to travel to customer and partner sites as needed (typically 25-35%).
  • Located in Mountain or Pacific time zones.
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
