Senior Solution Architect – B2B Commerce (Industrial Manufacturing & Distribution)

The Challenge
As a Senior Solution Architect (SSA) focused on B2B commerce with a focus on Industrial Manufacturing & Distribution (IM&D), you will be responsible for designing and validating technology solutions that drive meaningful business transformation for manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers. Your ability to bridge business goals with technical strategy will allow you to guide stakeholders at all levels through complex decision-making around quoting, pricing, catalog, and order-to-cash processes unique to B2B commerce.
You’ll act as the lead technical architect for OroCommerce engagements as we stand up this practice owning solution design, platform customization, and delivery guidance from discovery through launch while remaining versatile enough to architect solutions across other leading B2B commerce platforms if client needs point elsewhere. You’ll advise and engage with Pivotree’s prospects to understand their business problems, shape transformational programs to solve those problems, and position Pivotree as a strategic advisor and partner to help them achieve their success. As part of the Architecture team, you’ll also play a key role in advancing our internal Centre of Excellence, helping shape best practices and architectural maturity across the organization, with a particular focus on building out our OroCommerce capability.
The Requirements
- Act as the lead technical architect for OroCommerce engagements, guiding solution design, platform customization, and delivery from discovery through launch as we build out the practice.
- Design solution architectures that address both functional and non-functional requirements, leveraging leading SaaS and open-source commerce platforms and cloud-native technologies.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of complex digital ecosystems, including B2B and B2C business models, with particular depth in the operational realities of Industrial Manufacturing & Distribution (IM&D) — complex pricing and contract terms, multi-tier account and buying-group structures, quote-to-order workflows, and distributor/dealer channel models.
- Possess domain knowledge in Order Management Systems (OMS) and data-centric platforms such as PIM and MDM, to enable orchestration of commerce operations and unified product experiences across multiple channels.
- Design OroCommerce customizations and extensions, and advise on integration patterns connecting Oro (or comparable B2B platforms) to the ERP, EDI/punchout, and CRM systems common in manufacturing and distribution.
- Ability to foster trusted advisory relationships with clients, becoming a go-to partner for digital strategy and architecture direction.
- Identify and assess opportunities where AI can enhance customer journeys, operational efficiency, and personalization while evaluating the architectural implications.
- Bring strategic problem-solving capabilities, guiding multidisciplinary teams through challenges with clarity and confidence.
- Translate complex technical concepts into business value, effectively communicating solutions to stakeholders across business and technical domains.
- Provide technical leadership within an agile delivery framework (SAFe), ensuring alignment between solution design and implementation practices.
- Contribute to solutioning and estimation efforts for new and existing clients during both sales and delivery phases, including shaping Pivotree's go-to-market approach for OroCommerce.
- Actively support pre-sales engagements by shaping solutions, estimating scope and effort, and collaborating with sales and delivery teams.
- Mentor and inspire technical teams, promoting a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and innovation.
- Partner with project managers to ensure high-quality delivery, supporting estimation, planning, risk mitigation, and change management from a technical perspective including areas where AI can be leveraged for efficiency gain.
- Exhibit agility and responsiveness to evolving client needs and emerging technologies in fast-paced digital environments.
- Drive delivery excellence and customer satisfaction through thoughtful architecture, scalable design, and a strong user focus.
- Collaborate with architectural peers to champion continuous improvement in tooling, processes, and best practices across the organization.
- Support the Chief Architect in advancing the departmental vision and digital strategy, contributing to thought leadership and organizational growth.
Your Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience in enterprise technology environments.
- 5+ years of experience as a Solution Architect, designing and delivering complex, cross-functional digital solutions—ideally across multiple enterprise commerce platforms.
- Hands-on experience with OroCommerce with the ability to act as technical architect on Oro engagements; willingness and ability to ramp quickly and go deep on the platform as Pivotree's practice grows.
- Experience architecting or delivering B2B commerce solutions for manufacturers, distributors, or wholesalers, including complex pricing, catalog, and quoting scenarios.
- Proven success leading digital transformation initiatives, with an emphasis on scalable architecture, integration strategy, and alignment to business goals.
- Experience in AI/ML frameworks with demonstrable experience applying them to use cases to deliver business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles.
- Exceptional communication skills (English), with the ability to engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical domains—from C-level executives to delivery teams.
- Proficient in producing solution architecture artifacts, including high-level and detailed diagrams, system flows, and supporting documentation.
- Experienced facilitator of technical workshops and discovery sessions, leading clients through collaborative planning and decision-making.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including SAFe or similar frameworks, and a practical grasp of agile architecture practices.
- Solid foundation in software engineering, with the ability to guide development teams through design, estimation, and implementation phases.
- Skilled in leading distributed and cross-functional teams, with experience working across time zones and geographies.
- Proven ability to mentor and grow technical talent, fostering team development and cultivating a culture of architectural excellence.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with integration patterns specific to Industrial Manufacturing & Distribution, including ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Infor, Epicor), EDI and punchout (cXML, OCI), and distributor/dealer portals.

- Fluent, Sterling, Manhattan, Kibo, Korber
- Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of public cloud infrastructure and services such as AWS, Azure or GCP and their AI/ML offerings.
