Job summary

Mecklenburg County Government is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator for its Solid Waste facility in Charlotte, NC. Under supervision, you will operate a range of heavy Diesel and gas gear, perform diagnostics, and conduct preventive maintenance. CDL licensure is required or the candidate may obtain it within eight months.

This role requires a strong safety focus and ability to work outdoors in variable conditions. Minimum six years of experience and a High School Diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance or operation.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; combination of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy Diesel and gas equipment used in solid waste operations.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose problems using scan-tools and assist with repairs and servicing.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and maintain clean work areas.
• Lead and train others in safe operation of equipment when required.
