Job summary

Mecklenburg County Government is seeking a Solid Waste Technician IV at the Foxhole Landfill. You will operate very large and complex heavy equipment and perform waste screening, customer interactions, and training as needed.

Position requires CDL eligibility or training provided within 8 months; rotating Saturdays are required as the program runs six days a week. Minimum six years of experience and a HS diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in solid waste operations or a related field.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Perform load inspections on waste materials and monitor for unacceptable loads.
• Operate heavy equipment used in processing, collection and disposal.
• Perform complex maintenance on diesel equipment and keep areas clean.
• Drive semi-tractor trailers hauling materials and heavy equipment.
• Assist with truck and tool maintenance and ensure safety on job sites.
• Lead or train others within the job series as needed.
