Job summary

Altek Electronics in Torrington, CT is seeking a Solderer II to join the manufacturing team. The role focuses on joining electronic components with precision soldering, interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure high-quality assemblies.

The candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, following work instructions and ensuring consistent solder quality. Prior IPC/J-STD familiarization or certification is preferred, with opportunities to maintain safety and process standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Soldering experience in electronics manufacturing (manual and/or automated).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Familiarity with safety protocols for soldering and electronics assembly.
• Certification in IPC-A-610, J-STD or equivalent, or ability to obtain/maintain such certifications.
• Experience with SMT and through-hole soldering techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated soldering of electronic components on PCBs per detailed work instructions and blueprints.
• Inspect solder joints for quality using visual and microscopic techniques.
• Maintain and calibrate soldering equipment for optimal performance and safety.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot defects or process issues.
• Document work performed and maintain accurate production and quality records.
