Job summary

Apex Space in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Lead Solar Technician to lead the assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft solar arrays. This hands-on role also provides technical guidance, mentorship, and day-to-day coordination for the solar production team.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in aerospace or high-reliability hardware manufacturing, strong electrical and mechanical assembly skills, and experience reading engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in aerospace, spacecraft, solar, electronics, composites, or high-reliability hardware manufacturing.
• Experience leading, training, or mentoring technicians.
• Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical assembly, including wiring and bonding.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft solar arrays.
• Mentor and train technicians while coordinating build priorities, task assignments, and progress.
• Perform and oversee solar array assembly, including mechanical fastening, bonding, composites, wiring, harnessing, and precision alignment.
• Support integration of solar cells, electrical systems, and deployment hardware.
• Perform and oversee electrical and functional testing, including continuity checks and troubleshooting.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis with engineering and quality.
• Identify and elevate build issues and production blockers.
• Ensure builds meet drawings, work instructions, quality standards, and safety.
• Maintain build documentation, inspection records, and test results.
• Partner with engineering to improve tooling and processes.
• Drive continuous improvement in production efficiency and repeatability as solar array production scales.
