Job summary

Apex Space seeks a Harnessing Technician to fabricate and install electrical harnesses on solar array panels and satellite buses. You will build wiring interconnects routing power from solar arrays through the spacecraft, following strict aerospace workmanship standards.

This role demands experience with harness testing, backshell assembly, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 compliance, enabling critical electrical checkout across the solar array system.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in aerospace or electronics harness fabrication, installation, and testing.
• U.S. Person status required (export-controlled data).
• Proficiency in wire crimping (M22520 tooling) and connector backshell assembly.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 harness workmanship standards.
• Experience performing harness continuity, resistance, and hi-pot testing.
• Basic electrical knowledge including polarity and circuit fundamentals.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and connector pinout documentation.
• Cleanroom experience or knowledge of cleanroom and ESD/FOD prevention protocols.
• Good computer skills for documentation and digital work instructions.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with engineers and technicians.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical information.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate solar array electrical harnesses per schematics and diagrams.
• Install and route harness assemblies on solar array panels and spacecraft structures.
• Perform backshell assembly, potting, and shell installation per IPC/WHMA-A-620 and specs.
• Conduct harness continuity, resistance, and hi-pot tests to verify electrical integrity.
• Execute harness rework and repair including splice and connector pin handling.
• Apply ESD controls and FOD prevention throughout fabrication and installation.
• Support system-level electrical checkout including voltage, current, and power tests.
• Document assembly activities, test results, and non-conformances in production records.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of procedures and quality docs.
• Suggest and implement efficiency and quality improvements.
